O que são Tricomas

What are Trichomes

Trichomes are microscopic structures found on various plants, including cannabis. They are small glands that develop on the surface of plant leaves, flowers and stems. Trichomes have different functions, but in cannabis they play a crucial role in the production of chemical compounds, such as cannabinoids and terpenes, which give the plant specific characteristics.

Cannabis trichomes are known to contain high concentrations of cannabinoids, such as THC (tetrahydrocannabinol) and CBD (cannabidiol), as well as a variety of terpenes. They are responsible for the production of these chemical substances, which play fundamental roles in the medicinal and recreational effects of the plant.

Trichomes are visible to the naked eye, but their real structure can only be observed with the help of a microscope. They may look like hairs or microscopic crystals, depending on the plant's stage of development and genetics. As the plant matures, the trichomes often change color, going from clear to a more milky or amber hue.

Trichomes are highly valued in cannabis production as they are the main sources of cannabinoids and terpenes. When trichomes are mature, they can be harvested and processed to extract desired compounds, such as cannabinoids, for use in medicinal products, concentrates, and other cannabis-related products.

In short, trichomes are small glandular structures found on plants, including cannabis, that produce the chemical compounds responsible for the plant's distinct effects and aromas.
